Hydrogen is the first element in the Periodic Table. Homeopaths use the Periodic Table and the knowledge of the elements for our prescribing. Hydrogen as first element has the theme of existing. The underlying sensation and question for a person who might need Hydrogen is of his or her existence. Following remarks of the patient lead to the remedy which, how she told me, worked miraculously for her and helped her with her depression and difficult life situation, feeling more solid and having better boundaries:

“Wind decides where you gonna go, like a thing that exists, but you have no power.”

Describe existing?
“You are alive but powerless. The wind can blow hard or soft and you can cope but can’t do anything else…

You feel thin, busy, rushing about. The wind can blow straight through you. No sense of yourself, you are acutely aware of how the wind is blowing”.

More about having no sense of yourself?
“You…try to please other people so that you get positive feed back.
Feed back about who you are. It’s like you draw a dot to dot picture, you have to count, join another dot together in that picture. Drawing dot to dot. You can build up a picture and in this way you are discovering who you are.”

The patient complained about not having enough time for himself, being stressed and not doing what he really wants to do. His main goal was to stop smoking.

Going deeper into his story we came to an interesting experience:

“Not able to relate to anyone else, lonely…like a black hole, and maybe that. Self implosion maybe…kschzooom and then that’s it: a tiny black speck left. I have always been fascinated with antimatter.

Disappearing up your own ass, bailing out of humanity, not with a bang, just with a pfffft.

Compression into nothing.”

After getting the remedy Positronium – antimatter- he reported to have stopped smoking and to be more focussed and less distracted as well as more productive during the day.

“Now I do it my way, design my own things rather then compromise for liason with manufactory. Before it was imposed on me. That was what annnoyed me.”

This was a case of intense migraines, felt like an unbearable attack which came on every morning for many weeks. These migraines were triggered by a situation in the patient’s life. But what came up with it was an old grief about the loss of her mother when she was a child which she never really had come to terms with.

“Her behaviour was a shock, shocking…

I wanted to… felt responsible to somehow manage the situation.

Felt lonely, on my own, kind of craving for help but still helpless. Nobody there.

…the grief was kept under the blanket. It was too much to look at. It took long time to really realise that mum is not here any more.”

After receiving Ignatia, a well known remedy for grief, but also from a plant remedy where shock and disappointment are the main sensations, the Migraines which had bothered her so long completely disappeared in just a few days.

In his story the person spoke a lot of feelings of being surprised and shocked by things happening to him.

“It’s a mental blockage, something that could be painful. You even need to be more on your guard and protecting yourself from it, so it doesn’t happen. Then I start consuming alcohol to forget.  It is not going away, it stays with you, it goes in circles and I think in circles over and over and over again.

It’s a never ending ride which pulls you apart and rips you apart.

You are shocked about yourself: What have you done.  Longing for the moment when this experience is over and it takes so long to digest. Deep deep disappointment of something that has happened.”

What the patient was describing here is a sensation of a particular plant family and he got the remedy Gelsemium which helped him very much with his self confidence from the beginning. After the second dose of Gelsemium 1M he finally sent the text: Stopped smoking!

This patient came with low energy, inability to focus as if cotton wool in her brain and loss of her ability to connect: “…feel sad and low and there is a treasure chest and there are all these nice bright things and I am not allowed to access them, to touch them, it is not open to me and it used to be there and is not anymore… feel curled up and try all the time…try to be happy and laugh or smile and see funny things, try to connect with others.”

After getting her remedy, Adamas (diamond dust), she felt more clear, more decisive and more able to connect. Her forgetfulness improved and she felt finally able to do her job with great confidence. All her physical complaints, like hot flushes, lack of energy and pain diminishes and disappeared over the next months.

Apart from physical and general symptoms, one main symptom was extreme restlessness and inability to sleep. Following expressions led to prescribing this carnivorous plant:

The patient described a feeling like energy is closing:

“Defense building, nothing flows outside. I imagine the chakras closing, everything is closing.  Attention, alertness, tension. Between flight and attack. Or to be inside and not outside.

And the feeling to be inside is like being helpless. You can’t know what happens to you.

Space is limited. Stagnation. Gluey, sticky…water becomes thick.

Looking from outside it seems to be normal and harmonious, but inside is lack of contact. Contact is just on the outside and inside it is hollow. You are lost in that.”

We needed three consultations to find this perfect remedy (the pitcher plant) which helped on all levels and especially with the enormous inner stress she lived with, even though the second remedy chosen (another carnivorous plant) was already creating a lot of improvement, giving much more inner relaxation and confidence.

I treated my own horse, which was one of the best things I ever did (next to treating myself and many others) and which changed all my basic feelings around riding him. Apart from having helped horses with different remedies for injuries, mud fever and laminitis, here I treated a general state which kept us both kind of unhappy for long time. Riding out with him alone had hardly ever been a genuine joy because he was so fearful of every little thing and was very jumpy, startling and freezing on the sight of anything strange for him, which could be a bird, a sheep, a car or just a ghost somewhere. He became excited, hurried and tense and a bit unpredictable. Because he is a big strong horse this became a source of insecurity.

After giving him Aconite, a remedy for acute fright with fear of death, suddenness, violence and tension, he changed to a horse with whom it is pure joy to ride. He kept his forwardness and sensitivity but is now able to enjoy being out, looking around and having fun.

A young boy came with nightmares of zombies which were coming out every night out of his cupboard to touch him. He was scared to death and had to wake up his parents every night to sleep in their bed. He was extremely confident during day time and extremely fearful at night. These polarities, his specific delusions and all other physical and general symptoms brought us to the remedy after having two consultations.

Stramonium is a plant which was used in the medieval to bring upon a state on a victim which left them without consciousness and slowed them down in a way that they were considered dead and buried alive. After a few hours they were taken out of their grave again and now – with lack of identity sold as slaves.

His nightmares stopped immediately after the remedy, he was more balanced and peaceful and the whole family profited from his ability to sleep and being more confident and in harmony within himself.
